Audi Brings Digital Cockpit to the A3 Family

Audi has revealed the 2017 Facelift version of its A3 family of cars, including the Compact, Sedan, Sportback, Cabriolet, e-Tron and the S3 line of high performance versions. Audi A3 was the first vehicle to go into production with a digital UI created with Rightware Kanzi in 2012.

With the A4 Facelift Audi brings a variety of technological innovations already found in its higher segment vehicles to premium compact cars.

Digital innovations in the A3 family include:

Virtual Cockpit

Virtual Cockpit is Audi’s award-winning fully digital instrument cluster which replaces traditional gauges with a 12.3″ high-resolution digital display. Drivers can switch between views and configure the graphics to suit their driving preferences. On-screen elements such as gauges can be minimised to provide more space for e.g. maps or media.

Audi MMI

With a 7″ infotainment screen, Audi takes the lead in compact class infotainment. Audi’s MMI system with LTE connectivity provides the driver with Google Earth and Google Street View traffic information in real time as well as practical information on parking, destinations, news or the weather.

Audi uses Rightware Kanzi for creating its Virtual Cockpit and MMI infotainment system user interfaces. With the flexibility provided by Kanzi, Audi has been able to rapidly deploy its digital user interface software across its product line. Virtual Cockpit is now available in the Audi TT, Q7, A4, R8, Q2 and A3 models, with more to follow.
